Join our Board!

 Kinship House exists because every child deserves to feel safe, seen, and supported — especially those navigating the complexities of foster care and adoption. For nearly 30 years, we've walked alongside children and families in the Portland community, offering specialized therapy and advocacy that helps them heal and grow together.

Our Board of Directors is essential to that work. Board members guide our mission, strengthen our community connections, and help ensure Kinship House can keep showing up for the families who need us.

Board service is a three-year term, with the option to renew for two additional terms. As a board member, you'll commit to:

General Board Meetings

  • Attend all meetings, minimum 80%

  • Annual Meeting attendance is expected of all Board members

  • Members are engaged, focused, and participating

  • Board members agree to proactively communicate if participation will be/is limited

  • Board members agree to review meeting materials prior to monthly board meeting

Committee Involvement

  • All members will serve on one or more board committee(s)

Ambassadorship and Philanthropic Support

  • Commitment to an annual donation to Kinship House that is personally significant

  • Provide active support in procurement of donations to Kinship House — including event sponsorship, individual donors, in-kind procurement, and others as determined by the Development Committee and staff

  • Attend/volunteer at Kinship House fundraising and community events

  • Invite 10+ attendees to Kinship House events

  • Share information about Kinship House's mission, services, and opportunities

  • Identify and recruit new board members
