Giving Opportunities
Thank you for thinking of children in need. A tax-deductible receipt will be provided for all donations.
Donate online, through the mail or give us a call. Your financial contribution will directly impact the lives of transitioning children. You may make checks payable to Kinship House or click here to donate online.
Sponsor a child’s therapy. We will apply your contribution confidentially and directly. Please just state your intent on the donation form.
Join the Kinship Circle. The Kinship Circle is a three-year focused financial campaign, initiated in the Fall of 2005, to increase service and operational capacity of Kinship House. Members of the Kinship Circle donate $1,000 or more annually. Funds, generated from individual donors, corporate donations and foundation support, subsidize essential therapy and services for children in need, and are used to maintain and enhance counseling facilities. To become a member of Kinship Circle, please call or send your donation to “Kinship Circle.” Thank you for helping us retain our excellence and provide services to children in need!
Donate your car. Do you have a car sitting in your driveway that gathers dust? Donate it! Receive a tax donation receipt and help a child start a new life! Simply call Volunteers of America (VOA) at 503.239.7944 or use their online donation form at http://www.voaoregoncars.com/donate.php and indicate that you would like Kinship to benefit from the sale. VOA will do all the work, including pick up of your vehicle – running or not! Kinship House receives 50% of final proceeds.
Estate and Gift Planning – You may now contribute directly from your Individual Retirement Account (IRA) or 401K fund without incurring tax penalties. So, the impact of your donation is actually larger! If you are interested in making this direct donation from your investment account, please discuss it with your estate planner or fund manager and contact Kinship House.
Give a gift in Memory or in Honor of someone. Please consider helping a child succeed in making the transition to a loving home. Donate in honor of someone you know or knew. Giving to Kinship House makes a thoughtful birthday or holiday gift. We, in turn, will note your remembrance as desired in our communications.
Kinship House Capital Campaign – Help us buy our house!
We are purchasing the Kinship House buildings. Our home-like facilities, now renovated and beautiful, more than house most of our counseling services, they represent what our clients value most about kinship House – warm, welcoming, professional services. We plan to exercise a lease-purchase option on the properties at 1823 and 1811 NE 8th Avenue in NE Portland this spring – and we need your help. If you are interested in helping to make this happen, please call us or send your contribution to: 1823 NE 8th Avenue, Portland, OR 97212. Thank you! Our capital campaign will continue through 2009. Please note your interest in supporting the success of the capital campaign.
Donate Stock – Kinship House is able to receive stock donations. Just inform your stock broker of your intent and let us know how you would like us to apply your contribution. Another great way to make a significant impact to a meaningful cause!
Event Sponsorships – Kinship House conducts a few wonderful annual events that directly benefit our clients in need. Our auction event in May entitled, “I have a story to tell” is one such fundraising opportunity. As an individual, family, or corporate sponsor, you will be recognized in all related printed and online promotions and acknowledgements. Call us with your interest and we will discuss our sponsorship needs.
Corporate Matching Gifts – Does your company or agency offer matching gifts for donations you make? If so, your donation multiplies in impact. Check with your human resources department and let us know on your donation form. What a wonderful way to stretch resources.
Sponsor a book to be used during a child’s therapy by joining our “A Book for Every Child Campaign.” Foster Care and Adoption: A Pathway to Understanding is used with children at Kinship House to help them understand the many emotions associated with transitioning from their birth family as well as the role of the numerous people a child will come in contact with during their journey to a permanent home.
Donate your cell phone. Help to decrease the number of cell phones in landfills as well as garner funds for Kinship House clients simply by bringing your old, tired cell phones to our office. No need to bring chargers, cords, etc… Your cell phones are sent to Shelter Alliance for recycling. For more information about Shelter Alliance’s recycling program, visit them at http://www.shelteralliance.net.
Thank You
We thank local foundations and supporters who have enabled us to provide scholarships to children for counseling and support as they transition to permanent and loving households.
