Our Approach

At Kinship House, we support children and families who are working toward achieving or maintaining permanency. Through our transition and therapeutic services, our expert team delivers the highest quality of individual and family treatment to help make foster care and adoption successful.

Our History & Our House

Kinship House is easily accessible in a homelike facility in Northeast Portland's historic Irvington District. Our agency is small and warm, offering a cozy environment with familiar faces and a heartfelt belief that every child deserves the shelter of a house and the love of a family.

Staff

Our licensed clinicians have expertise in a variety of areas, born from years of experience as therapists, caseworkers and trainers. Their compassion and dedication is seen in their longevity at Kinship House. Three of our six therapists have been with us since our inception, eleven years ago. Many have direct personal experiences with adoption and foster care as well.

Board of Directors

Kinship House is overseen by a dedicated and passionate Board of Directors made up of members of our local community with backgrounds in health and human services, law, finances, accounting, design, marketing, management and architecture. Each director has a keen interest and desire to serve children and families of Oregon through their work on the Kinship House Board. Most have personal experience with foster care and adoption. Board members are encouraged to follow their passions as they align with the Kinship House mission to counsel, advocate and educate others on issues related to children and families moving to permanency through foster care and adoption.

Partners

Kinship House has partnered with several of the area's agencies and entities dedicated to children and families in order to increase awareness and understanding about the needs of foster and adoptive children, and to provide specialized mental health services.
